Lola’s Pumpkin Patch

Y’all...This Weather!!  Is it just me, or does it scream everything Fall?!!  From the second I woke up this morning I knew that my family was doing something outside, and I wanted it to involve pumpkins!  My crew was very on board with this, and they loved my choice of place to go.   This is where I say, “Y’all need to see” Lola’s Pumpkin Patch this fall season!  It is located in Melissa, Texas (address below).  They have a really nice variety of pumpkins so that everyone in your family will be able to find one they like.  My daughter is very selective when it comes to finding the “perfect pumpkin”, and she had so many to choose from here, so she was thrilled! It is also the perfect size location if you have younger kids.  Everything is nicely spaced out, but does not involve a lot of walking.  There is even a cute little kid maze, and some animals such as a small pony, donkey, chickens, etc.  (Kid Maze) (Chickens just hanging out) (Patt...

Third Monday Trade Days

Hey everyone!  It’s finally Friday!  I for one am thrilled.  I need a weekend and this one is going to be beautiful! Have y’all ever been to Third Monday Trade Days in McKinney?!?  If not you really should try to find some time this weekend to check it out.  It’s such a fun place to just wander around, get some crafting ideas, or buy some fall decor, apparel, gifts, puppies.  Sorry, had to add the puppies.  It’s one of my favorite rows (I always want them all).   I love going here with friends, and seeing all the amazing craft ideas.  We always talk about all the great thing we now plan to make...and quickly realize a few days later we should have just bought it!  People are so talented!  And even if you aren’t in the mood to buy anything it is such a great place to just walk around.   It’s going on this weekend: Friday (today) 8-4 Saturday/Sunday 8-5 Address: 4550 W University Drive Next dates are: October 16-18 Nov 13-15 Dec ...

Deep Ellum -Murals

Y'all need to do a day trip to Deep Ellum!  It is located right outside of Downtown Dallas.  This area is sometimes called Dallas' original walking neighborhood for art.  That is a very accurate description. No matter where you walk there is something beautiful or creative to see.  It almost feels like every inch of this area has been thought about and every wall is an open canvas.  Deep Ellum has been a must-see destination since 1873.  In the 1920's it was the place to be for Jazz and Blues music or a night out on the town.  In 2009 the Deep Murals Project was started with the goal of transforming some of the deteriorating, blank walls into pieces of art that reflected Dallas and Deep Ellum's history and culture.   In 2012 the 42 Murals Project was started as an opportunity for artists (local and international) to showcase their talent through murals painted on the historic buildings in Deep Ellum.  Not all of the murals are part of th...

Dallas Love Field Plane Spotting Location

If you ever need to go to Dallas Love Field Airport (or if you just have a kid that loves planes), y’all might want to check out Bachman Lake Park!   It is a beautiful location, and happens to be right next to the airport.   Dallas Love Field has 2 parallel runways and this lake runs right along the north edge of the airport.  Here is a map of the lake to the airport. Southwest Airlines' planes usually land and depart from one runway, and  Delta and United typically use the other runway.  So if you are waiting for someone to arrive this might be a fun place to wait, so that you can watch their actual plane coming in for the landing.  If you stay on Shorecrest Drive you get a really close view of the planes right above you, but either side of the lake is still a good spot to view them.  And it is a public park, so anyone can go.   When in the area my family likes to pick up some lunch, take it down to the park, and eat while watching planes come in...
