Dallas Love Field Plane Spotting Location

If you ever need to go to Dallas Love Field Airport (or if you just have a kid that loves planes), y’all might want to check out Bachman Lake Park!  It is a beautiful location, and happens to be right next to the airport.

Dallas Love Field has 2 parallel runways and this lake runs right along the north edge of the airport.  Here is a map of the lake to the airport.

Southwest Airlines' planes usually land and depart from one runway, and Delta and United typically use the other runway.  So if you are waiting for someone to arrive this might be a fun place to wait, so that you can watch their actual plane coming in for the landing.  If you stay on Shorecrest Drive you get a really close view of the planes right above you, but either side of the lake is still a good spot to view them.  And it is a public park, so anyone can go.

When in the area my family likes to pick up some lunch, take it down to the park, and eat while watching planes come in.  It is great, other than it always makes me think of all the places I want to go on vacation!!

You can watch the planes in the distance as they circle back for the landing.  The little black dot in the sky is one coming.

We stayed on the side of the lake to watch from the side view.  But so many planes keep coming in that you can move around to see all angles.

Some additional information about Bauchman Lake Park:

It is a 205-acre city freshwater lake and park that includes a playground, picnic areas, 16 station exercise circuits, and a 5K hike/bike trail.  There is a public restroom facility on the south side of the lake.  There is not a lot of shade over the path, but there are beautiful trees that you can step under if you need a break from the warm Texas sun. All of this and it is beautiful (with airplane views)!

Post Oak Creek - Fossil/Shark Teeth Hunt

Did y'all know that in Sherman Texas (about 30 minutes north of McKinney) there is a great spot to search for old shark teeth and fossils?  There were fossils everywhere.  Just pick a spot to sit and start scooping up rocks and you are bound to find something interesting!  Supposedly the old shark teeth are from 145 million years ago. (Some of our finds) We went with friends, because what better way is there to spend a gorgeous day outside (easily able to social distance), but still so much fun!  I mainly took pictures...because hey, it was just beautiful.  And because I love taking pictures of people having fun.  But everyone else was sifting rocks and enjoying hanging out in the water of the creek looking for shark teeth and cool fossils and rocks.  I couldn't believe how many they found!!  If you find something different here is a good link to see what it is:    http://northtexasfossils.com/sharks.htm Who knew that you could do someth...

Frisco Central Park

Yes, y'all read that right... Central Park .  Being from New York the name of this park caught my attention the first time I drove past it.  And then a second later I saw all the Longhorn Statues on the front lawn and it went from "I wonder what type of park this is" to "I need to walk around this park!"  I am glad I did...I think you might like it too!  Obviously, that is why I am telling y'all about it!   The first thing I need to tell you is that the park is nowhere near as big as the NYC Central Park.  It is actually very small (or as my kids would say, "perfect size").  But there is a lot of beauty in this very small place.  Some people even call it a "hidden gem in Frisco".  I would agree with that!            Location: 3155 Parkwood Blvd, Frisco TX 75034.  It is right off of Parkwood.  You might not even see it at first because it is surrounded by hotels...but you probably won't miss the big Long...

Prairie Creek Park

Did y'all know that right here in North Texas there is a hidden waterfall?  It is tucked inside a wooded greenbelt park that has trails, bridges, and creeks....and it is located right in Richardson Texas.  Prairie Creek Park! The history of this park is that it was founded in 1966 and is one of the oldest and most historical parks in Richardson.  This area has been preserved to protect nature and wildlife habitats.  Beautiful park, and has a waterfall?!!  Y’all need to go see this place!  And I should mention that the waterfall is so easy to access.  It is very close to the street where you can park.  And it is pretty easy to find because before you can even see it you will hear it.  The sound of strong rushing water seems to echo through the trees.  And you can even walk over the top of the fall to get onto the trail! You can go and just see the waterfall but I highly recommend going for the walk through the trails.  It is so peace...
