Tiny Homes Vacation - Denison Texas

Wow, I am really behind on my blog!  But I need to tell y'all about this place (before I even unpack)!  Also, make sure you are seeing my Facebook page as I tend to share more there.

Tiny Homes Vacation!  Let me just start that I am not a camping type of girl.  I am not a fan of bugs or anything that I would usually associate with the outdoors and camping.  But, this place...I love this place!

I heard about this location last year when they were in the building process and I thought it sounded cool.  Then this summer my daughter tore her ACL and we needed to think outside of the box for things that she could do, that would still be fun but not that far away.  I instantly remembered this location.

The cabins looked really cute, it was less than an hour from my house, it was 4 minutes from a pretty lake, had fire pits, and they had a pool!  Yes, a pool.  At a campsite!  Oh, and did I mention super soft comfy beds... in a cabin...with walls and a roof...and an Air Conditioner!!!  Yall, Texas is hot in the summer!  This place was the most ideal "camping" location I could think of!

Quick info on Tiny Homes before I tell you my experience.  It is a resort location that has Tiny Homes, Glamping Tents, Forest Cabins, and Luxury Bunkhouses at Lake Texoma.  They like to say, "Where Indoor Comfort Meets Outdoor Life".  Very accurate!  Some cabins come with indoor bathrooms, showers, kitchen units.  Others have bathroom access nearby (but talk about clean at all times!).

So, we arrived on Friday.  It was so cool pulling in and seeing all the little houses.  My kids instantly asked if we could build them one in the backyard.  They are so cool that I don't think I would mind one in my backyard!  We pulled in and went into the clubhouse to check-in.  We were so surprised to see all the fun games.  There was a pool table, table tennis, a foosball table, Pac-Man, Board Games, etc.  The kids did not want to leave that space, but we promised to come back!  We couldn't wait to see our cabin.

The cabin we chose was the Forest Hut.  The reason we chose this one is that it was a Father's Day gift, and my husband likes to camp.  I wanted to make it as "camping" as possible...but still not in a tent on the ground with no beds or AC.  Next time I want to stay in one of the Tiny House (we got to go inside one and it was really cute...it had a bathroom and kitchen...perfect!!).   Everything here was so beautiful and clean, and it was not a surprise because the staff was everywhere keeping it so nice.  No joke we even saw them "dusting" for spider webs.  This is my kinda place!!  And they were all so friendly.

The cabin was adorable!  There were 2 queen beds and a bunk bed.  We had an in-the-wall AC unit, mini-fridge, and a full-size kitchen table.  We also had a small patio, chairs, and a fire pit.  We knew it was going to be a fun two nights.  But I didn't even realize how much fun it would be!

That first night for dinner we drove five minutes to a place called The Point Restaurant.  It is a great location right on Lake Texoma.  There happened to be live music and half-price drinks and appetizers that night so that was a huge bonus.  We ended up staying there for a really long time and then watched the sunset.  That is a must-do for me.  If there is a view of the water (or just a view) I want to see the sun as it sets!  And this was a beautiful location.  And the food was so good!

Once we got back to the resort we decided to spend some time in the Clubhouse like we had promised the kids.  We ended up staying there till 11pm and pretty much played every game we could.  It was so much fun!  Not sure who had more fun, the kids or us.

The first night was perfect.  We all slept great (the beds are so comfortable)!  We didn't hear anyone or anything while in our cabin.  And the one thing I thought I wouldn't like was going to use a bathroom outside of the cabin.  But, at night the whole area is lit up with strand lighting and path lights everywhere.  And you can also even see stars.  Words can't describe how beautiful it is at night.  I loved being outside at night.  We also felt very safe at all times.

Saturday morning we woke up at sunrise because we had rented a boat for the morning.  That was so much fun and although the boys didn't catch any fish, the girls got to lay in the sun and just relax.  We all had a great time.

In the afternoon we just relaxed by the pool and played some more games.  We also walked around the resort to see the other cabins.  For dinner, we went back to The Point because of the beautiful view, the really good food, and the entertainment.  Another great night!  After that, we drove around the area to explore.  When we got back to our cabin at night we started the fire pit and roasted smores and just sat outside on the patio for a while!  Another late night, but so much fun!

Sunday morning we woke up early, spent the morning by the pool (we were the first ones there)! It was so relaxing.  The boys swam, my daughter relaxed under a shaded cover since she still can't swim from her surgery, and I got to lay in the sun.  The perfect way to end the trip.

If you are looking for a little getaway, I consider this place a little hidden gem that you should go see.  I am sure it won't be hidden for long because people like me will tell you all about it.  And that you should go visit.  As much as I would like to keep it to myself y'all need to just go here.  I for one know I will be back!

Thank you Tiny Homes Vacation for being a perfect home away from home!  Look forward to seeing you again! #tinyhomesvacation #texascamping #familystaycation

Post Oak Creek - Fossil/Shark Teeth Hunt

Did y'all know that in Sherman Texas (about 30 minutes north of McKinney) there is a great spot to search for old shark teeth and fossils?  There were fossils everywhere.  Just pick a spot to sit and start scooping up rocks and you are bound to find something interesting!  Supposedly the old shark teeth are from 145 million years ago. (Some of our finds) We went with friends, because what better way is there to spend a gorgeous day outside (easily able to social distance), but still so much fun!  I mainly took pictures...because hey, it was just beautiful.  And because I love taking pictures of people having fun.  But everyone else was sifting rocks and enjoying hanging out in the water of the creek looking for shark teeth and cool fossils and rocks.  I couldn't believe how many they found!!  If you find something different here is a good link to see what it is:    http://northtexasfossils.com/sharks.htm Who knew that you could do someth...

Frisco Central Park

Yes, y'all read that right... Central Park .  Being from New York the name of this park caught my attention the first time I drove past it.  And then a second later I saw all the Longhorn Statues on the front lawn and it went from "I wonder what type of park this is" to "I need to walk around this park!"  I am glad I did...I think you might like it too!  Obviously, that is why I am telling y'all about it!   The first thing I need to tell you is that the park is nowhere near as big as the NYC Central Park.  It is actually very small (or as my kids would say, "perfect size").  But there is a lot of beauty in this very small place.  Some people even call it a "hidden gem in Frisco".  I would agree with that!            Location: 3155 Parkwood Blvd, Frisco TX 75034.  It is right off of Parkwood.  You might not even see it at first because it is surrounded by hotels...but you probably won't miss the big Long...

Prairie Creek Park

Did y'all know that right here in North Texas there is a hidden waterfall?  It is tucked inside a wooded greenbelt park that has trails, bridges, and creeks....and it is located right in Richardson Texas.  Prairie Creek Park! The history of this park is that it was founded in 1966 and is one of the oldest and most historical parks in Richardson.  This area has been preserved to protect nature and wildlife habitats.  Beautiful park, and has a waterfall?!!  Y’all need to go see this place!  And I should mention that the waterfall is so easy to access.  It is very close to the street where you can park.  And it is pretty easy to find because before you can even see it you will hear it.  The sound of strong rushing water seems to echo through the trees.  And you can even walk over the top of the fall to get onto the trail! You can go and just see the waterfall but I highly recommend going for the walk through the trails.  It is so peace...
