Tumbleweed TexStyles

Have y’all heard...Tumbleweed TexStyles is opening a flagship store in Frisco, and the Grand Opening is tomorrow!  If you haven’t heard of them yet, keep reading because this might just be the type of place you were looking for!   Something I noticed right away when I moved to Texas is the incredible hospitality and love of Texas that everyone has. So many people here love to host gatherings, and to have friends and family come to visit.  And so many times I hear people looking for the perfect Texas gift to give.  Something like a tee-shirt, hat, etc.  While there are many places you can find Texas items...Tumbleweed TexStyles looks like the best place to start! Some history on this company is that it all started in 2011 when Brian Wysong and Jeb Matulich (two local friends) decided to start a small business of making Texas apparel because of their love for Texas.  In the past 9 years this small business has grown and now their first flagship store is openi...

San Antonio

I don’t know about Y’all, but when I hear San Antonio I instantly think Riverwalk and The Alamo!  They just seem to go together.  I loved getting to go there a few times (pre-Covid) and can not wait to go back again.   Since I have a friend heading there soon that asked about a few ideas of things to do I thought “why not share my list with everyone!”  I’ve included links to each location for more information such as what they are about, the hours, and address. I will say that the bottom portion of this is the places that I want to explore during future trips (have not been to them yet).  But, hopefully, some you get to visit before me and let me know how they are, and if it’s something I "need to see". Let me start with the obvious, The Alamo.  It’s just a must-see when you are there.  So much history! Listen to the speakers inside because they have such great information to share, and will even point out all the original bullet holes in the walls....

Weinberger’s Deli- Grapevine

Yesterday I wrote about the free botanical garden in Grapevine.  Today I will tell you about a “must eat at” location practically around the corner from it!  Right in my favorite part of Grapevine....the Downtown (another must see). Weinberger’s Deli!  Voted “Best Chicago deli in the World...well, In Texas!!!”  And I would have to agree with the In Texas part!  I would love to say that this place is a hidden gem, but SO MANY people that knew I loved Grapevine told me that I needed to go here, that apparently it’s not a secret.  And now I am sharing it with you!  Go here if you are in Grapevine!! My family got 4 different items that we all ended up sharing because we all wanted to try everything (it all looked so good).  I got the Italian Beef (the most famous/most popular item).  And no joke, it was the best I have ever had!  We also got the Weinberger Reuben, a Gyro, and a Chicago Hot Dog.  I really should have taken pictures of th...

Grapevine Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park

Since my first trip to Grapevine Texas the downtown area became a favorite spot of mine!  I’ve been there many times, but even with all of the  trips there, I never took the 3 minute detour a few blocks away, to the Botanical Gardens.   Today we did, and I am so glad! I love finding hidden gems, and this is absolutely one of them.  The Grapevine Botanical Gardens is a small   beautiful park with trails, streams, ponds with fish, plants that attract butterflies, huge trees, sitting areas, open fields, and many different plants to view.  It is such a pretty location to take a quick stroll. And y’all, it’s free to enter, free to park, and a great (really great) location for family pictures.  I personally love taking photos of my family in pretty settings, and this place was perfect!  Check out these gorgeous backdrops! For a small area there is such a great mix of pretty flowers, beautiful big trees, and a wooded area.  The trees were huge and c...

Prairie Creek Park

Did y'all know that right here in North Texas there is a hidden waterfall?  It is tucked inside a wooded greenbelt park that has trails, bridges, and creeks....and it is located right in Richardson Texas.  Prairie Creek Park! The history of this park is that it was founded in 1966 and is one of the oldest and most historical parks in Richardson.  This area has been preserved to protect nature and wildlife habitats.  Beautiful park, and has a waterfall?!!  Y’all need to go see this place!  And I should mention that the waterfall is so easy to access.  It is very close to the street where you can park.  And it is pretty easy to find because before you can even see it you will hear it.  The sound of strong rushing water seems to echo through the trees.  And you can even walk over the top of the fall to get onto the trail! You can go and just see the waterfall but I highly recommend going for the walk through the trails.  It is so peace...

Frisco Mercantile

My last blog was about a must see marketplace store in Frisco TX, and y’all started to ask me for more.  So here is another fun store just a few miles down the road from the Painted Tree Marketplace.  If you plan to go to one, you might as well just go to both!  There are 200+ vendors selling home goods, clothing, decor, art, antiques, and collectibles, etc.  You can even still find some booths that have fall decor (which I personally love seeing). If you are more of an antique person you will also really enjoy this store.  Maybe you have a family member that collects items from the past.  There are a bunch of booths like this here that throw you back in time.  It’s fun to look at some of the items in these booths, like old metal lunch boxes, or old collectibles. My kids get a kick out of seeing things I remember from when I was young.  Apparently I am “an antique”!  (My kids think they are funny)! The cool thing about this store is that mayb...
