Grapevine

Grapevine Texas...otherwise known as The Christmas Capital of Texas. (For real)

Have you been there yet?!  If not you need to go!  Grapevine is a wonderful town to visit any time of the year, but during the Christmas season it is a must see!  This town hosts over 1,400 Christmas Events in 40 days.  Yes you read that right!  There are so many things to do and see here it is impossible to list it all.  On top of all the events, Grapevine is covered in millions of lights, has huge decorations throughout the town, a wreath on every light pole, and every shop is decorated in Christmas spirit.  There are also daily snow flurries, tractor wagon rides, festive music playing, a Grinch Whoville area, and so much more.  I love being there at night, with a hot chocolate, strolling up and down Main Street and soaking in the holiday feel of it.  But if you are not able to get there at night the day is also still great. The best way I can describe it is, if you like Hallmark movies, you will feel like you have been dropped right into one in this town!  (I am a huge fan of this area in case that wasn't already obvious).

While you are there don't miss the 45 minute City Hall Light Show Spectacular and the singing Christmas Tree next to the Town Square Gazebo that run after sunset.  The Torian Cabin is also a must see that is totally decorated in rustic Christmas decor.  It is a photographers dream location with all the beautiful wood/brick, and all the holiday props surrounding it.  So many photo opporunities.  For a really cute picture step into the Mistletoe Booth.

As if this is not enough reason to visit the town, the Shops that line Main Street are amazing.  So many wonderful gift ideas, great finds, and unique items.  If you are looking for something other than shopping you can also check out The Historic Palace Theater that runs holiday concerts as well as classic holiday movies.  If you get to spend the entire day in town get yourself some tickets and enjoy a show.

And in case you feel the need to see more than just the amazing downtown, stay the night in Grapevine.  A few minutes down the road is Gaylord Texan Resort featuring ICE!  This is a must see also, if you ask me.  It has 2 million pounds of life-sized ice sculptures, this year A Charlie Brown Christmas is the theme, ice slides, a half million lights, 12,000 ornaments, and a 52 foot tall Christmas tree!  Incredible!  Or Great Wolf Lodge is another great location where you can escape to SNOWLAND.  The resort transforms into a winter wonderland with nightly snow showers, crafts, and holiday festivities.

Grapevine is a perfect place to create Christmas Memories, and will forever be a holiday tradition for my family!

Post Oak Creek - Fossil/Shark Teeth Hunt

Did y'all know that in Sherman Texas (about 30 minutes north of McKinney) there is a great spot to search for old shark teeth and fossils?  There were fossils everywhere.  Just pick a spot to sit and start scooping up rocks and you are bound to find something interesting!  Supposedly the old shark teeth are from 145 million years ago. (Some of our finds) We went with friends, because what better way is there to spend a gorgeous day outside (easily able to social distance), but still so much fun!  I mainly took pictures...because hey, it was just beautiful.  And because I love taking pictures of people having fun.  But everyone else was sifting rocks and enjoying hanging out in the water of the creek looking for shark teeth and cool fossils and rocks.  I couldn't believe how many they found!!  If you find something different here is a good link to see what it is:    http://northtexasfossils.com/sharks.htm Who knew that you could do someth...

Frisco Central Park

Yes, y'all read that right... Central Park .  Being from New York the name of this park caught my attention the first time I drove past it.  And then a second later I saw all the Longhorn Statues on the front lawn and it went from "I wonder what type of park this is" to "I need to walk around this park!"  I am glad I did...I think you might like it too!  Obviously, that is why I am telling y'all about it!   The first thing I need to tell you is that the park is nowhere near as big as the NYC Central Park.  It is actually very small (or as my kids would say, "perfect size").  But there is a lot of beauty in this very small place.  Some people even call it a "hidden gem in Frisco".  I would agree with that!            Location: 3155 Parkwood Blvd, Frisco TX 75034.  It is right off of Parkwood.  You might not even see it at first because it is surrounded by hotels...but you probably won't miss the big Long...

Prairie Creek Park

Did y'all know that right here in North Texas there is a hidden waterfall?  It is tucked inside a wooded greenbelt park that has trails, bridges, and creeks....and it is located right in Richardson Texas.  Prairie Creek Park! The history of this park is that it was founded in 1966 and is one of the oldest and most historical parks in Richardson.  This area has been preserved to protect nature and wildlife habitats.  Beautiful park, and has a waterfall?!!  Y’all need to go see this place!  And I should mention that the waterfall is so easy to access.  It is very close to the street where you can park.  And it is pretty easy to find because before you can even see it you will hear it.  The sound of strong rushing water seems to echo through the trees.  And you can even walk over the top of the fall to get onto the trail! You can go and just see the waterfall but I highly recommend going for the walk through the trails.  It is so peace...
